My Mission

All my life I have been a complete foodie and have always loved being in the kitchen. As I grew in my health and food journey, I realised how important it was to just spend those couple of extra hours preparing good food for yourself and your family if you do have one to look after. Because in this day and age, it seems most of us have left the the haven that is our own kitchen and find ourselves spending a lot of our time and money elsewhere at takeaways and fast food places. Which most of the time is never as good and satisfying as a good home cooked meal made with love and care. One of the things I am against even at the young age I am is putting money into companies that will be feeding the next generation. And as much as I enjoy the occasional take away and meal out at a nice cafe or restaurant, there's nothing like the rewarding feeling you get when you cook something you're proud of. I adore the way of life 50-60 years ago, because everything was just so much simpler and the food we ate didn't come from packets and ready made for us, and filled with bucket loads of additives and sugar.

I've never believed in counting calories, weight watchers and eating healthily simply for the sake of losing weight, that has never been my goal and I believe it shouldn't be anybody's goal. I think starting by focusing on eating the right things for your body and quality of life is the right way to go and then everything else will fall into place.

I set up this blog with the main aim (amongst many) to encourage people to get back into the kitchen for both their happiness and health. Although I am guilty of indulging in a slice of cake or two now and again, through my personal journey I have found that living a life this way provides one with all the happiness they need. When I cook and bake, I find it so therapeutic and have thoroughly enjoyed using it as a fun way to deal with my illness and make myself better. I have spent years trying to figure out what I was meant to do and when I needed it most, I found it.
